چکیده

This paper describes architecture of DCT and DWT standard of an image compression. It is used specially for the compression of images where tolerable degradation is required. The discrete cosine transform is a fast transform and has fixed basis images which gives good compromise between information packing ability and computational complexity. DWT can be used to reduce the image size without losing much of the resolutions computed and values less than a pre-specified threshold. This paper covers some background of wavelet analysis, data compression and how DCT and DWT can be used for image compression and we propose a hybrid DWT-DCT algorithm for image compression and reconstruction taking benefit from the advantages of both algorithms. The algorithm performs the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) on the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) coefficients. Index Terms — Discrete wavelet transform (DWT), image compression, wavelets, Discrete cosine transform (DCT), hybrid DWT-DCT.

Review of Increasing Image Compression Rate using (DWT+DCT) and Steganography

The goal of image compression is to remove the redundancies for minimizing the number of bits required to represent an image while any type of compression like DWT,DCT,DFT, steganography works by embedding the secret data in redundancies of the image in invisibility manner. In this paper we increase image compression is done by hybrid (DCT+DWT) transform. MATLAB programs were written for DCT,DW...

Image Compression using hybrid of DWT,DCT and Huffman Coding

This research paper presents a proposed method for the compression of medical images using hybrid compression technique (DWT, DCT and Huffman coding). The objective of this hybrid scheme is to achieve higher compression rates by first applying DWT and DCT on individual components RGB. After applying this image is quantized to calculate probability index for each unique quantity so as to find ou...
